Background Paper #2, August 2009

In July 2009, Pope Benedict XVI published the social encyclical “Caritas in veritate”. Among other things, the document elaborates on the global financial and economic crisis and calls for the creation of a “true world political authority”. On this occasion, this background paper analyses the world order model that is included in the catholic social doctrine. It concludes in particular that the creation of a world parliament is a logical consequence of catholic teaching.
